CrossFit supplements and nutrition
CrossFit is a popular sport these days. CrossFit puts your stamina and strength to the test at the same time. It is a form of fitness that combines weightlifting, athletics and gymnastics. CrossFit is a full-body training in a very varied way, where the exercises are performed at a high intensity as quickly as possible.
Heavy workouts require the right nutrition and supplements
We're making no bones about it… CrossFit is unbelievably tough. This means that you have to listen to your body to avoid injury and pay close attention to your diet to be able to sustain it. In addition, the right CrossFit supplements are important to maintain your energy level. During every training you will push your limits on both a mental and physical level. Your fitness will fly forward, you will become more agile, athletic and much stronger. CrossFit workouts are done in a group. You really need the encouragement from the group to actually go to the extreme. There is competition in the group but at the same time you build a bond with each other. That makes the sport extra fun!
Crossfit and nutrition
Heavy and intensive training requires a lot of energy. The question we often get from novice CrossFitters is what is the best food and drink for them. During the rest periods it is extremely important to get enough nutrients so that your body can recover. The CrossFit training can be so heavy and challenging, but if the nutrition schedule does not fit well, your body will not recover properly and you will therefore not become stronger. To build muscle mass, it is important that you create a small calorie surplus. If you want to lose weight, you do the opposite: you eat slightly fewer calories than your daily requirement. We will now tell you what to eat before, during and after a CrossFit workout.
Nutrition for CrossFit
As you know by now, you will consume a lot of energy. It is therefore wise to have enough energy reserves before training. That is why it is recommended to eat a low-carbohydrate and protein-rich meal 3 hours before training. It is better to eat fats as little as possible, because your body takes longer to process them. A suitable CrossFit supplement in this case is a weight gainer or energy bar .
Nutrition during CrossFit
Food during CrossFit will mainly consist of absorbable sugars and fluids. Sports drinks provide a good balance of carbohydrates, proteins and salts during training. You can also drink BCAA during your workout. This consists of essential amino acids that support muscle building and repair.
Nutrition after training
All energy reserves that you have used up during the training must now be replenished. It's time again for a carbohydrate-rich and protein-rich meal. Preferably do this within an hour after your workout because your protein synthesis is at its highest at this time. Suitable CrossFit supplements that you can take now are a protein shake , protein bar or weight gainer.
Drinking and training
In addition to good and balanced nutrition, you should of course take in sufficient fluids. It is good to drink an average of 2 deciliters per hour during the day. It is recommended, for example, to drink half a liter of water an hour before your training and then nothing more. You have nothing to do with that sloshing in your stomach when you are doing the heavy and intensive exercises. This way you are assured of sufficient moisture to be able to train properly. With 1% moisture loss, the performance already deteriorates because the metabolism is negatively influenced. Moisture is the means of transport for food and waste and ensures that the temperature of your body is maintained because you sweat. Drink plenty of water or special sports drinks during and after training that also replenish your electrolytes and carbohydrates. You can't blame the lack of minerals or carbohydrates if you don't keep up with the training.
Get plenty of rest to recover before your next CrossFit workout!
Recovery is the time and process the body needs to get ready for the next CrossFit workout. There must be a balance between nutrition, training and rest. If this balance is not right, you will not make any progress. Your body also needs adequate sleep. Enough sleep means an average of 8 hours of sleep per night.
Rest is important and indispensable for achieving results and preventing injuries! One or two rest day(s) is very important. Then don't flop right on the couch and lie there all day watching Max Verstappen, but take a nice walk in the woods. Vacation is also part of building in rest. Just focus on something else. Had to do absolutely nothing for two weeks. Reset yourself!
After a heavy workout or CrossFit competition, it is necessary to let your body recover with the right nutrients. After such physical exertion, there are small tears in the muscle tissue that need time and proteins to repair. Taking carbohydrates ensures that the glycogen stores are quickly replenished. Carbohydrate intake can significantly shorten the recovery period. Supplementing the necessary minerals: sodium, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium can be very welcome because you lose many of these minerals during sweat. We have delicious shakes with a combination of proteins and carbohydrates that you can easily take after a workout.
